Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Co-operative Sugar Factory Ltd. Is just not a sugar factory but it is a
revolution run under the leader ship of Hon.
Chairman
Mr. Arvind dada Gore for empowerment and
development of more than 9968 members of the society and cane farmers in the rural and backward
area
of Osmanabad district.
Having experience in the successful implementation of bagasse base co-generation plant and a
dream of setting up renewable energy hub at ambedkar Sugar laid the foundation of the
prestigious grid connect solar power plant.
Osmanabad district is situated in the marathwada region of Maharashtra state having its latitude
of
18.5N and Longitude of 76.05E. NASA and various research institute in India and abroad studied a
lot
about global solar radiation. According to their research Osmanabad District is very good for
Solar
Radiation and have 330 Days of clear Sunshine.
In June 2010 , Hon. Prime
Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh launched the
ambitious Javaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission of the Ministry of New and renewable
energy Govt. of India. According to the mission the plan is to set up 20000MW of Solar
energy in India by 2020.
The First phase of this ambitious project was to set up 750MW Solar energy by 2013. The
Roof
top PV small solar generation program (RPSSGP) of 1 & 2MW has got allotment of only
100MW
across India. The Ministry of New and Renewable energy appointed Indian Renewable energy
Development Agency (IREDA) as program Administrator of the RPSSGP Scheme. Maharashtra
energy
Development Agency(MEDA) acted as state nodal Agency for the state of Maharashtra.
For allotment of 100MW, more than 1000MW applications received by IREDA throughout India
by
various project proponent. The three tier selection process was First come first serve
basis, very clear and Online through Internet. The basic criteria was technology
adoption,
net worth of the applicant company, availability of land etc.
We completed all the stages of registration successfully and We feel very proud to get
selected as one and only Co-operative society in the entire country for setting up the
grid
connect solar power plant.
We got registered for the GBI (generation base incentive) and IREDA issued the
registration
certificate on 17th September 2010. As per the rules and regulations of the RPSSGP
scheme ,
the project has to be completed within 12 Months from issuance of the certificate.
In 2010 the grid connect solar power plant was very new concept in India. Therefore we
decided to study thoroughly about this new concept . Accordingly we arranged visits to
various solar module manufacturing facilities, EPC contractors facilities for detailed
knowhow of the grid connect solar power plant technology. We had a joint meeting at
sakhar
sankul Pune with various EPC Contractors, Module Manufactures , Inverter manufacturers
etc.
for conceptualization of the idea to set up first of its kind grid connect solar power
plant
in Maharashtra.
We have completed all the tender procedures , financial closures, and other legal
formalities by 15th November 2010. The work for design, engineering , supply and
commissioning of 1MW grid connect solar power plant on turnkey basis was allotted to
well
known TATA Power Solar Ltd. Bangalore by the state level Machinery purchase committee
meeting of sakhar sangh in Mumbai.
The cost of 1MW grid
connect
solar power plant was rupees 1376 Lakhs. The
five year operation and maintenance cost is Rs. 24 Lakhs. The highlight of the agreement
with TATA Power Solar Ltd. Is the performance bank guarantee. We took a generation
performance bank guarantee from TATA power Solar Ltd for period of five years. Tata
power
solar ltd has guaranteed generation from the 1MW grid connect solar power plant on the
basis
of latitude and longitude.
As per the Maharashtra electricity regulatory commission & central electricity
regulatory
commission Suo-Motu tariff order, an Energy Purchase Agreement was executed with
Maharashtra
state electricity distribution Co. Ltd @ the rate of Rs.18.41 per kwh(unit) for a tenure
of
25 years.
TATA Power Solar Ltd started the erection work on 30th November 2010 and successfully
commissioned the plant on 30th July 2011. The technology used in this plant is
crystalline
photo voltaic (PV). The solar cell is a silicon semiconductor. There are 60 solar cells
in
module. The sun rays falls on the solar cell to convert sun rays photons in to direct
current by means of photo voltaic effect.
The plant is spread over 4.5 acres of baron land. The arrangement of the plant is such
that
, 4400 modules are arranged in series and parallel combination for getting up 1MWp
Output.
There are 24 arrays and 200 strings in which the modules are arranged. each individual
module has a capacity of 230Wp.
At the 24 string combiner boxes we get 72 A, 660V DC which is then paralleled at the two
main junction boxes for 800A, 660V. We are feeding this DC power to the 500KW x2 special
Solar Inverters for converting it into AC power and for synchronizing with the Grid to
export. This project is on to grid project . The entire Energy generated is directly
exported to grid . There is no any storage of energy or captive consumption. The last
Thirteen years generation of the plant is attached herewith.
In last Thirteen years the plant has generated a revenue of
Rs.
32,36,62,675/-
By setting up this renewable energy plant we prevented 14Ton of CO2being emitted to the
environment per year. There is no any water or Air pollution for generation power from
Solar
. This is clean and green energy.
Our management has decided to pass on the profits generated from solar power plant to
sugarcane farmers and members of the co-operative society.
